how we met/the story of our friendship Sarah version:

At some point during the summer before 8th grade I was upstairs in the preschool wing at FBC and someone (LaVaun Thomas maybe?) told me there were some visitors that I needed to meet because one of them would be in my grade at school.  I think we actually met in the Sunday school room downstairs but I remember being told of your existence before we actually met.  You were moving from Russellville (a town I knew a lot of even if I don't know how to spell it today) and I had it in my head that you were to be my project.  I was going to introduce you to everyone and help you have fun and it was going to be awesome.  Imagine my surprise when you didn't need my help making friends!  I felt a bit scorned and even more put off by your overwhelming "new girl" status.

We passed that year of school in the same group of teachers and with the same circle of friends, going to the same church, singing in the same choir, and acting in the same drama group, but not friends.  At one point in the year I coerced a friend to push her down at the skating rink resulting in a massive bruise.  I honestly don't remember the details of that event, but I know it happened and I will own it.

The summer after 8th grade we went on a mission trip with our youth group to Mobile and Dauphin Island, Alabama.  We had a great week serving together and bonded over being able to share clothes. On the long drive home we had a bit of a DTR wherein we tried to figure out if this friendship was just for show or if we were going to actually make a go of being friends.  We agreed to put the past behind us and moved forward into the sunset of eternal bliss together.

about our blog address:

So, once upon a time many moons ago Mae and I used to be told often that we looked like sisters.  Or, folks would say that there was something similar about us that they couldn't put their fingers on.  Enter the infinite wisdom of "sister Sarah" to coin the phrase "same breed of woman."  She presented that we are similar in our features, large eyes, large lips, friendly smiles and these similarities led people to lump us together.
